Four Transitional Fall Trends to Try
It’s time! We had our first cold snap. Okay, that might be an exaggeration. It did, however, dip below 70 degrees down here. With the cool air teasing and fashion week around the corner, it’s hard to resist dreaming about fall trends. It’s going to be warm a few more months, though. So, the key is to invest in pieces that can transition through the seasons as the weather plays games. I’m up for the challenge.
The Sweet Sauce team and I got together recently. Each one of us picked a trend we were eager to start wearing. We looked to our favorite highlights from the runway, recapped in our favorite magazine’s like Harper’s Bazar and Elle.
Some of us hunted new items and others shopped our own closets for the trends. Keep scrolling to see which trends we wore and where to buy them!
Moody Florals
I’ve written about moody florals more than once. Last year, I picked out some moody floral pieces from LOFT during our collaboration and coined the term. Now, I see it everywhere in fall fashion forecasts. I love this trend because it’s easy to incorporate no matter the weather or occasion. Start with a hair scarf or a dainty dress. Wear it now with bare legs and later with tights and leather jackets.
Plaid Now and Later
I honestly never would have thought of plaid as a transitional trend. It seems so winter to me. Plaid is on several fall trend highlight forecasts. Erin pulled it off with a pair of shorts. I am so in love with this approach. She rocked the fall trend with a simple white t-shirt and combat boots. You could take the plaid shorts into the cooler temps with a sweater and tights. Think outside of the box when it comes to plaid. Shop the trend now:
Jewel Tones
Becca and I almost showed up in the same outfit. I had an emerald skirt and camisole all picked out for this big fall trend meet up. She was right on the money with this look. Rich, bold jewel tones rock the status quo of earthy fall hues, but still nod to nature. She paired her silky blouse and skirt with leather boots to add some edge. In cooler temps, you can rock a leather or denim jacket to warm you up. I found several jewel toned pieces that would be great for warmer end-of-summer events. They’ll also blend right into your fall layers.
The Mini Bag
And finally, my Moozhan. She actually hits a few fall trends here: animal print, jewel tones, combat boots, and th mini bag. I decided to focus on the mini bag. I think it is so lady-like, yet edgy. I also like being forced to carry less. It has an effortlessly chic vibe: Be in the moment, not in your purse. I found a few mini bags in different colors that also nod to other fall trends. Buy them now and use them through winter!
