Skye’s Seven: Summer Essentials to Shop from Amazon Prime Day + the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
With all of the fashionistas of the internet buzzing about Prime Day and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sales, we’re hunting for classics we can wear over and over this summer. I dug though the web to search for basics, many of which will be on sale soon. They’ll come in handy because summer isn’t showing any signs of ending soon. It’s often hot until November here in the south. That means you can shop guilt-free knowing you’ll get plenty of use out of these items.
The Sales
Starting this week Nordstrom is having their annual Anniversary Sale which runs from July 12-18 for Nordstrom Card holders. You can either approach this to find a luxury statement piece on sale, but we prefer investing in high quality classics. The Nordstrom sale opens to the public July 19 – August 4.
Then, Amazon Prime Days July 15 & 16. We think it’s good to start saving items in your cart now, and you can now “watch” items to see if they go on sale. From electronics, to food, to style essentials, you’ll get it fast.
With these two special events events in mind, I’m all about the fashion. I’ve put together a list of summer pieces that will add a little polish and flare to any summer wardrobe. Cotton dresses, black sunnies, and of course platform sandals all made the cut. Some of these pieces are already in Megan’s closet, so they are verified fresh picks from Nordstrom and Amazon.
What to Get
The One-Piece: This trend is popping up everywhere this summer and cannot be turned down. One-pieces are the perfect summer staple because they accent any body type to help you feel your best.
Black Sunnies: You can’t go wrong with a good pair of black sunnies because they go with everything and will never go out of style. I linked a few of my favorite pairs below including my Rayban Wayfarer’s which have been my go to since I was 16 and now are almost 50% off at Nordstrom Rack.
Linen Pants: Anything linen is perfect for the summer months because of it’s great breathability. It keeps you comfy and can be dressed up or down for either a day at the beach or a night out.
Platform Sandals: I first saw this trend make its way onto the scene last summer and when I saw the ones I had been eyeing were on sale I finally had to dive in. I love platforms because they pair lovely with any outfit and even give us short gals a little boost.
The Straw Tote: If you’re heading to the beach or looking for a cute summer purse, a straw tote is the perfect addition to any wardrobe. It makes the best accessory to any outfit and works great to hold anything you may need.
The Cotton Dress: I love having multiple cotton dresses looped throughout my closet in the summer because there is no hassle to match any two pieces and you can just throw one on and go. Cotton fabric’s soft touch and high absorbency also help make it the best summer staple.
Accessories: A must for anyone looking to add a little flare to any outfit. Jewelry, hair scarves, and watches are perfect to create an entirely new on-trend look without having to actually buy any new clothing items.
