Fashion Essentials for Spring 2016
Spring is definitely here. If it hasn’t officially taken hold, then it is simmering just above the surface. My closet is is absolutely dying for a remix. Luckily, I just moved. I have turned a bedroom in our new place into my new walk-in closet/office/official princess space. I have my clothes all out on two open garment racks. My clothes are on display in full force. I had picked through them before we moved and pruned some more after I officially landed and began decorating my new nest. I was mostly making room for more…
I’ve come up with a list of items that are on my personal shopping target list (it’s good to have one of these for budgeting). As you make your own plans for spring shopping, I hope this fashion roundup is helpful to you. I mind offer a gentle nudge and suggest you shop these sales right now at Old Navy, Macy’s, and ASOS.
A Trench Coat
I got my khaki trench coat from Target. It was $30. I am casually looking for one in light pink. I think I would get a lot of use out of it. Trench coats are the perfect neutral, flattering transition pieces. Go for one with a belt and some flow. I like this one, this one, and this one.
A Structured Crop Top
Nothing says “modern” like a shirt that is sexy, but doesn’t have to hug your curves. You can effortlessly wear a structured crop top with high-waisted skirts, pants, shorts, or over maxi dresses. The photo below is of a piece created by Richmond, VA designer Temple Textiles. I can’t put my finger on a website yet, but you can follow the budding brand on Instagram here. Here are a few more favs: 1, 2, 3.
Colorful Flats
You want to walk more in the warm sunlight of the Spring and Summer. You can still look like a fox while flatfooted. Go for a bright solid color that speaks to you. Maybe they match your current wardrobe, maybe they don’t. If they have character, sophistication, and make you happy, then you should get them. I think pointed toe flats give shoes a bit more sex appeal. I love these: 1, 2, 3.
Light, Flattering Tops
Flowing tunic-style shirts will make any pair of pants, skirts, or thigh-high boots ready for action for the spring transition. You want a shirt that cuts at the hips to avoid any bunching and flick right over the good stuff. Throw in floral patterns and lace-up details like on this lace-up tunic. Try these: 1, 2, 3.
Nude Wedges or Chunky Heels
When you’re ready to let the legs make their debut, rock a pair of skin-toned shoes to make those babies look long. Also, as experiment with your Spring and Summer threads, one last thing you have to worry about is whether or not your shoes match. I am currently moving these Steve Madden beauties to my cart. I also want them in blue and yellow. Here are a few more options: 1, 2, 3.
Flare
When you’re out shopping, let yourself be drawn to items that call to you. Is there a pattern on a scarf that just makes you smile? Walk through the jewelry isle when you might not normally. A fun pair of earrings and can breathe new life into your wardrobe. Excitement from a fun new accessory can inspire you to take a step further or ignite your creativity. I think this scarf is dreamy. I love this bold striped clutch. This Ted Baker watch could stay on my arm all day.

A trench coat is always a required staple for me in the spring. Chunky heels are on my list too! I love block heels right now.

Always a treat linking up!!
I love the pretty pointy toed flats and clutch you have on your list! I am currently on the hunt for some pointy toed floral flats. I found some at Payless but they were just a little too tight in my size and just a little too baggy a half size up. I’ve found a ton of heeled versions I love but flats have been harder to find. Let me know if you come across any! 🙂
