Three Maxi Dresses from Mod & Soul in Richmond, VA
Nothing says summer quite like a flowing, breezy maxi dress. They are one of the most laid back items of clothing you can own. Heck, you barely have to wear undergarments, which is perfect when everything gets covered in sweat anyways. Hello summers in the south.
When I shop for a maxi dress, I look for one that won’t require a lot of work to look good. That means no tugging at the hips, no adjusting the shoulders, and no bunching at the waistline. A great maxi dress looks effortlessly beautiful however the wind is blowing, which way you sit, or how you twirl on a dance floor. I found three maxi dresses that fit these criteria at Mod & Soul, one of my constant go-to shopping spots in Richmond.
About Mod & Soul
I’ve worked with Mod & Soul ever since my dear friend Sherise said I had to meet the owner, Jasmina Zulic. Jasmina had grown her online boutique swiftly and smartly for a year and a half. She was so smart about it, she was able to leave her day job and open up a brick and mortar on Broad Street. Read this post in Richmond Magazine about her.
Jasmina keeps the store stocked with easy-to-wear essentials. She believes in keeping it simple, yet feminine. Visit the website or the boutique for on-trend dresses for that next wedding, comfortable shoes that go with everything, and minimalist jewelry made by local artists like Liberatus and Glister. She also carries my favorite perfume oil by Wood & Wax–Wild Honeysuckle is my scent.

Now, let’s check out these maxi dress selections…
Baby Blue
Jasmina always picks out a dress for me that I don’t expect to like. This was one of them. it wound up being a favorite. The light blue is flattering for any skin tone. The flutter should shoulder design is so dainty and feminine. The floral print is simple and straight forward. Shop it here.
Coming Up Roses
This dress was comfy AF. The elastic top and arm bands are barely there. I sized up so my arms weren’t so squished. The floral pattern is downright romantic. I would wear this to a winery, a pool party, or a beachside dinner. Shop it here.
Mellow Yellow
If you haven’t noticed, I’m really enjoying yellow lately. See this yellow dress I scored at Goodwill. This dress was fun to wear because thought it was cotton, it felt more formal than most maxi dresses. The off-the-shoulder neckline is surprisingly comfortable and fuss-free. The shape was pretty straight up and down, so if you got curves you will see them!
I LOVE your dress, you look stunning!

Beautiful! Love maxi dresses and skirts too. They are always comfortable and slimming. I used to worry that they’d make my 5’1″ frame look short, but with heels, I find that maxi dresses actually make me look taller! (Others have told me that to confirm, lol!) You look FAB in the yellow! Not everyone can pull off such a bold color. 🙂
Thanks for the love!! I’m 5’2″ so I feel ya sister ! Gotta try them on before you buy ✌?
