RVA Thrift Guide: Second Hand + Consignment Shops in Richmond, VA
Here in my hometown, second-hand shops in Richmond are everywhere and each one offers up something to feed my soul. Over the years, I’ve become a regular in many of these thrift and consignment shops. I am still discovering more. I regularly refer visitors to certain shops in my writing outside of Sweet Sauce. As a personal and corporate stylist, I also find myself hunting for very specific things and second-hand shops always deliver. There are several reasons why I love to shop second-hand clothing personally and why I suggest others give it a try:
- It’s a budget-friendly way to try new trends. Learn what works for you and what doesn’t! Invest again if you discover something new you love.
- It’s a step toward creating a more sustainable lifestyle. I wrote about this here.
- It’s a fun way to get to know the personality of an area. When I travel, I always head to at least one second-hand or consignment shop because I can get a feel for the personality of a neighborhood. Check out my Joshua Tree thrift shop adventures.
- You’re shopping local pretty much every time. As we navigate our way into a post-COVID world, this intention is more important than ever.
