We’re all getting teased here. The warm spring weather has only been peeping out a couple days at a time in the South East. This week in Richmond, we have a prediction of bout of showers and thunderstorms nearly every day. I’m glad I haven’t put a few cooler weather essentials out of reach.
When we’re already struggling with transitioning our wardrobes AND the weather is less-than-inspiring, it’s easy to slump back in to boring basics. I want to challenge you to think a little lighter and brighter during the coming gray spring days.
Just because the weather is crummy doesn’t mean you have to pull out the frumpy rain coat and wellies. To keep your hair dry, try one of those wool hats you were wearing all winter! I scored mine recently at a horse race and am so glad my cousin picked it up for me. I have been wearing it a few times a week when I knew it would be humid or might sprinkle. It easily went with any neutral color or a few light pink and navy colors in my closet.
A fun pattern keeps the gloomy days brighter, too. This sweater from Closet Barcode (only $30) was the perfect pick. The cute collar is girly but still kept me warm on a windy day. The navy and off-white pattern will mix well with jean short, white jeans, red jeans, pink jeans, and maybe even a plaid skirt this spring. I look forward to experimenting with it!
Here, I paired it with my favorite pair of jeans as of late from Old Navy. They are worn perfectly for a flattering and elongating shape. I’ve been rocking them every weekend. You saw me rock them here.
A pair of indestructible heels are also good rainy-day essentials. I’ve always used heels as a secret weapon to staying dry. These heels are low-budget and can handle getting wet. The raised platform and heel keep me just high enough so the light rains won’t get to me.
