Below are my New Year’s resolutions and you are here to witness and hold me accountable to them for the coming 12 months:
I will buy more consignment and second-hand clothes.
Buying second -clothes is intimate, cost-effective, and good for the environment. I find myself being more choosy when I buy second hand and therefore happier. I like connecting with another person who may have dawned the same item before me. In most cases with second hand, you can get high quality items for a Target price. I have been reintroduced to many stores in my own neighborhood that sell used and vintage clothing. I am excited to be more diligent about exploring them. Making this commitment will also be a good excuse to explore more new places this year.
I will master a forearm stand in yoga including any other kind of gnarly poses and arm balances I can achieve.
I practice at Shockoe Slip Yoga and with CO2Fit. If you’re in #RVA, come join me! I am going to get the body I really want. Seriously this year. I’m going to the coast of Spain in July/August, so there’s my donut at the end of the stick.
Get my morning ritual back.
I want to wake up with enough time to drink a hot water with lemon and write or read BEFORE my coffee and BEFORE work. I think I have eliminated the possibility of reaching the goal of going to bed earlier and rising earlier. Maybe I need to adjust my work hours to 10 to 6. Maybe I need a career change. Either way, I want a lazy, meaningful morning. Every day. If I could eliminate the rush of the morning, I would be an overall more productive person.
Find a career (or careers) that fulfill my creative needs.
How can I make the most of my current position? How can I find a new more creative position on the side or full-time? How can I blog more prolifically and profitably? Should I start a vlog? Can I start my own business? How can I help my significant other start his own business? How I can I make enough money to pay the bills, buy the heels, sign foray the bar tabs, and see new parts of the world while being happy every day? I am determined to find the answer this year. Coworkers, I got mad love for you!
Get my eczema under control.
I was born with a pretty annoying and chronic eczema diagnosis. It has been worse the past year than it has since I was a young child. I eat healthy and exercise and I am educated about common products that help ease the symptoms, but I think there is something I am allergic to in my environment I’m not aware of. I am going to make an appointment with an allergist. If I don’t find relief from an allergist (believe me, I’ve been to a dermatologist for years and there is no solution there), I will enroll in clinical studies for eczema treatments. I will also review products I find helpful or not helpful along the way. I might even try a diet elimination program to root out a possible food-born cause. Anyone want to sponsor this endeavor? Do you have tips? Share with me!
Floss daily.
I work too closely to the healthcare community and understand the importance of oral health as it relates to the body and mind at large. Everything is connected. It’s time I start walking the talk. I have health insurance! I know what a set of bad teeth looks like. I know how much dentures cost. Get it together.
Be an awesome Maid of Honor.
My best friend is getting married, ya’ll! She is an amazing person and I love her future Mister. They are a truly sweet and kind couple who deserve all the love and support during this fun year. The date is set for September. I have parties to plan, trips to arrange, dresses to dawn… Don’t think this is the last time you’ll hear about it.
Ask for more of my friends to write awesome things. I asked my New Year’s Eve guests to write their new year’s resolutions the first half hour after midnight. At least one of these pretties has been featured on the blog already. Enjoy!
To be better than I was last year and love all living creatures equally and sincerely.
Play Piano.
To be more grateful and to become a yoga master.
I want to make money in college.
Keep a journal and start a book club.
Be nice. I won’t write what’s in parentheses, but it’s really funny, I promise.
Make more friends. P.S. Learn English.
Take two poops tomorrow. Sorry I couldn’t figure out how to double underline here.
Eat more pomegranates and help pandas.
Work out with my brother (who is diesel as fuck).
Grow a beard like my brother.
What are your resolutions? Share them with Sweet Sauce or come along for the ride to cheer me on during 2015. Cheers!
