I have been romping around on Lake Anna since I was at least 6 years old. My family moved into their home there in 1996. The early stages of my lake style were creative to say the least. When I was growing up, I used to wear a bathing suit and nothing else all summer long. Sometimes I would just cover myself in mud and that was stylish enough for me and my best friend who lived in my tiny neighborhood. Then, I decided I hated all things outdoor and wore tutus and leotards to school.
Today, things are a little different. As I return summer after summer, I find myself thinking differently about my “lake wear.” Luckily we have fun new events, restaurants options like Tim’s (200 Boardwalk Way) and shops like Hey Gorgeous Boutique (105 W. Main Street).
When the Lake Anna Breeze reached out and asked me to put together some looks for the Memorial Day issue, I was stoked. Pick up your hard copy when you’re in town this weekend! Here is the extended version:
I’ve created two looks here to take you from day to night on Lake Anna. All items were found at Hey Gorgeous Boutique, a ladies consignment shop you won’t want to miss. When I visited, they were filling the racks with more fun frocks and bright summer patterns. I got a chance to chat with the owner and staff there. What a gem for my small home town!
Everything I’m wearing was found at Hey Gorgeous for under $50 (except for the shoes, pants, and bathing suits). The center pieces of these looks include a fun pink coverup that easily transitions into a blouse. Throw on white jeans and earrings after a day in the sun and you’re ready for a fun cookout!
How about these earrings! They are so fun. I was impressed with the jewelry selection. Sometimes consignment stores can just pile up on jewelry that no one wants. I also picked up a fun gold and white opal-like stone choker necklace I haven’t gotten a chance to rock yet.
The second look features a Bebe dress only ($15!) used as a coverup by day and turned into a classic LBD look for night.
I’ve been rocking this striped blazer more than I thought I would. I rocked it with a vintage white dress and chunky heels to a long day of work meetings the other day and felt fresh and chic.
This chunky gold necklace makes me happy. So does the sunshine! I hope everyone can get out in it this weekend!
Happy Memorial Day!
