Three Ways to Wear a Fanny Pack
A couple of years ago during one of our many holiday markets in Richmond, I found myself drawn to a basket full of wallets. I’d been looking for the right one, with some very specific needs in mind. I was starting to put myself out there as I kicked off my freelance career and launched my blog. I wanted a wallet that would be helpful holding business cards and networking. I took home a wallet that night created by Erin at Awl Snap. I couldn’t stop rubbing the buttery soft leather at the event, so I made it mine. Sadly, that wallet was stolen during my trip to New Orleans last year. I honestly went months without a new wallet because nothing seemed to compare. While I did eventually pick up a wallet during my trip to Greece last summer, I found my way back to Awl Snap again. Meet my new favorite keeper of the things: my very first fanny pack.
Fanny packs have been everywhere for the past year or so. I actually scoured the internet for a few months before last summer’s adventures, which took me to festivals, ferry boats, and fishing boats. Despite the hundreds I might’ve seen, I never pulled the trigger. Nothing seem to fit the bill. I wanted a fanny pack that was clean, versatile, a little sophisticated, and barely there. And here it is, handmade right here in my hometown. This simple fanny pack fits my phone, my money, and my lip gloss–Sweet Sauce essentials.
As I do with any new fashion piece I’m really excited about, I challenged myself to style the fanny pack differently right away. Here’s a little series of three outfits and three different ways to wear a fanny pack. I styled it classically around my waist, I wore it more like a purse, and strapped it across my chest. My favorite way to wear it was the last. Every outfit calls for a different touch, however. I look forward to wrapping this baby around me many times.
