From A Killer Eye Mask to Hydration: Luxurious Tips for the Busy Girl
Ya’ll know I stay in motion. I used to stay busy and feel frazzled and worn out all the time. I’m too old for that sh** now. I’m also much wiser. As I’ve grown my freelance business and put more attention onto my personal wellbeing, I’ve started new habits that are taking hold for good. I’ve tried so many different ways to incorporate self care into my life over the years, especially thanks to my blog. It’s not about doing more, but actually doing less. It begins with things like wearing an eye mask while you sleep. If you’re mindful of investing in the small things, then you can live a more well rounded and comfortable life while still kicking a** and taking names. Let’s get started:
Skincare While You Sleep
I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when VII Code reached out to have me try the beauty brand’s 8-hour eye masks. I thought, surely, that’s just silly. As I made my way through the box (6 packets) during my recent travels and after a few long days back in RVA, I really noticed a difference in the morning. Why wear them at night? Well, firstly, you don’t have to think about it while it works. But, most importantly, your cells are already in rapid repair mode at night. It’s best to maximize this regenerative process with a skincare product that works at the same time. There’s no use killing the game if you look dry and tired. You can keep the masks in a refrigerator for even better results. Get the eye mask here.
Invest in a Water Bottle You Love
Hydration is crucial for staying healthy and keeping your skin looking fresh and bright. Whatever it takes to make it fun and stylish, make it happen. I also recommend investing in a glass water bottle. I’m working hard to cut back my plastic usage and this is an important place to start. Taking time to invest in products that align with your beliefs is an important part of becoming an adult. I’ve been carrying around this Bkr water bottle for a couple months now. It’s small enough to fit into a tote or small back pack, cute enough to place on a table during a meeting, and has a hook that’s perfect for attaching with a clip to a bag for easy access.
Keep Your Hair Cleaner Longer
I have Studio 1213 to thank for some new products in this category. During my last visit to the salon, I asked Lauren Austin for some hair product recommendations. I wanted to wash my hair less, but not dry it out. I have oily hair, but it’s also dyed. I need to avoid overdrawing it and also keep the volume up between washes. She led me to the Dede Shampoo and Hair Refresher, both from Davines. Fun fact, you can buy both at Walmart! I’m enjoying both for their luxurious scent and loving the fact I can make my hairstyles last longer. This saves me time and also saves me from having a bad hair day.
Matching PJs
My best friend calls these “big girl pajamas.” It might sound totally silly to recommend you invest in matching pajama sets, but let me explain myself. I think it’s critical to make sleep a priority and create a space where you leave the rest of the world behind. For someone who places a high priority on fashion, it makes sense that this is signified by a wardrobe change. When you slip on a pair of matching pajamas, you’re signaling to yourself that it’s time to sleep. It’s not time to work or to do yoga or to clean, so don’t put on your workout gear when you slumber. Put on your sleeping gear. I’ve recently found a couple great pairs at Target. While you’re at it, invest in a good eye mask for when you need to sleep in or catch some zz’s during the day.
