The Distressed Denim Jacket: The Ultimate Transitional Piece

I recently put myself through a pretty intense closet cleanse. I was getting suuuuper uninspired by my clothing. That’s a problem for me as a fashion blogger, a stylist and creative professional. My outfit really makes my day on many occasions. It also says a lot about me to my followers, clients and even those close to me. I wasn’t feeling totally like myself. So, I reread my own closet cleaning guide. As I purged and organized, I kept my favorite pieces at the top of my mind. One of those pieces I realize does a lot of heavy lifting for me is my distressed denim jacket.
What I Love About my Denim Jacket
I have worn this jacket around the globe, all seasons, and all occasions. It quickly turns a girly dress into something edgier. My distressed denim jacket also covers up my workout outfits on cooler days. When I throw on the jean jacket, I also notice it adds a bit of length to my petite frame with some of my outfits, especially those with a black base. A big bonus: It has several pockets, which often means I don’t need a bag when I wear it for more casual outings.
As I worked through the pieces I wanted to keep and what new outfits I could create, this denim jacket frequently came back into play in my outfit planning. I use my own photos to get inspired sometimes, too. I always feel kind of like Cher from Clueless when I start to do this. I also regularly head to Pinterest for help when I’m looking for personal wardrobe inspiration.
As I started culling through my favorite photos on my photo, I found these 16 outfits so far. I’m going to keep looking and creating.
