“I think clothing is transformative. When you put something really beautiful on, you feel something. In so many ways, we’re always playing a form of dress-up – it’s just a grown-up, much chicer version of it. It’s nice to be able to be whoever you want to be.”

On this rainy night of RVA Fashion Week, bloggers, designers, their supporters, and Hot 106.1 gathered at Maymont’s Nature Center. I was sick, but had been on medicine long enough that I rallied myself to go. I was excited to see all of the designers and hang out with Kimberly Hise. But, what really got me out of the house was this jump suit. I had been saving it for more than a month for RVA Fashion Week. It had to be worn! This was the night to do it. Putting it on transformed me and filled me with energy.
Find a jumpsuit almost exactly like it here. I scored mine on consignment at Ashby. Like my shoes? Get your own here.
I added color to my ensemble with this stunner from Stella & Dot. Get it here.
A portion of the proceeds from the ticket sales for the Friday and Saturday fashion shows benefitted UNOS (United Network for Organ Sharing). Learn more about the organization here. Pictured below is Lisa Schaffner, the famous news anchor turned nonprofit marketing superstar. I may or may not nerd out when I see her. Anyways, are you an organ donor? You should be.
And here, the beautiful Solie’l, whom I first met at yoga at MTK Auto on night 1. She is a RVA Fashion Week veteran model, working this year as a coach. I need some nude shoes like hers! I found a pair for you.
Now, on to some of my favorite designers of the night. First up, is Mogiia Design. the fun, floral patterns and matching two pieces made me happy.
PLV is a men’s clothing line with a great message. I could actually see my boyfriend wearing some of the simple and high quality shirts.
Also, I want this sweatshirt. Now. I don’t even care what size.
I was particularly impressed with the intricate cut-out bathing suits from Bathhouse Swimwear. I can’t imagine the detail work that goes into creating these pieces.
I’ll leave you with another beach dream. This bathing suit by Tough Cookie styled with the big floppy hat, just made me so excited for my trip to Spain this summer. I could see myself rocking something like this.
All of these photos were taken by the amazing Kimberly Hise.
I’ve got one more day of RVA Fashion Week to tell you about! What do you think so far? Got questions about any of the designers or details? Email me! Sweetsauceblog@gmail.com
