Winter Work Wear: Chunky Sweater + Tweed Skirt
I gotta tell ya, I hate the transition between summer and fall. Fall is a beautiful season and I crave winter for the snow and style. Saying goodbye to summer is always hard for me, though. I grew up spending my days on the lake and nights by the fire. I love having sun kissed skin and not having to wear pants. I always miss being able to throw on a dress and be ready for work. Coming up with work wear appropriate ideas gets me all confused in the cooler weather. Then, I remember my love for a good chunky sweater.
I discovered this chunky sweater years ago. I bought it to wear with jeans and boots on the weekends. As the years have gone by, I’ve found new ways to wear it that even a boss might approve. One chilly day recently, I had a packed schedule. I started my day with a coffee brainstorm session and then moved on to two hours of a tour and interview for a magazine feature I’m working on. I then caught lunch with a blogger friend. After that, I had one more meeting and a very long date with my Mac to get all this writing done. Knowing I had all these demands, and that I needed a touch of professionalism, I went to work in my closet as I sipped my coffee.
I first reached for this tweed skirt I discovered while thrifting. I really wanted to be cozy, though. So I almost put it back. Then, I remembered my favorite chunky sweater! I also wore it in this post. I pulled it over and tucked the front in to keep a slim frame. I reached for my favorite suede boots to polish it off. Just before I left, I decided I wanted another layer. I took off my boots and added knee high socks. They’re my secret weapon during the winter. I have a few pairs that are thick and warm up my whole body, even when I’m not wearing pants.
