5 Travel Apps for the Stylish Explorer
I’ve JUST booked a 7-day trip to Portland, Oregon, Seattle Washington, and Denver Colorado. I leave May 29! More details to come. For now, let’s get to talking about travel apps!
Traveling regularly doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style. Sure, it can be trickier to come up with a knock-out look everyday when you’re limited to the contents of your suitcase and have to choose clothes with a slightly more practical edge, but it’s still possible to stay stylish while on the road.
The biggest problem traveling fashionistas have to overcome is storage space and the ability to adapt to environment. Fortunately, there are plenty of great mobile apps available that can lend a helping hand…
Packing Pro
The first difficult decision any stylish traveler has to make is during the packing process. We only have so much space; how are we meant to know what we might want to wear? Fortunately, the Packing Pro app has more than got you covered.
It creates bespoke packing lists no matter what your situation. There’s options for solo travelers, couples and groups; you can input any destination and type of holiday, and it has several different list lengths available, as well as giving you the option to create your own. This app makes for more convenient, comfortable and compact travel.
Weather Travel Fashion
We’ve all done it: chosen that perfect skater skirt, white blouse and wide-brimmed hat for a day wandering the city streets of a foreign country, only to get soaked to the skin in the seasonal monsoon. It’s hard to recognize weather warnings and pick appropriate outfits when you’re away from home, so the Weather Travel Fashion app has got your back.
This extremely handy program helps you chose day-to-night outfits based on the weather by using your GPS to detect your current location. It even includes a humidity, wind and UV index to help with skin and hair care and a three-day forecast to make it easier to plan ahead.
Pimkie Color Forecast
It’s not just the weather forecast that can help you make that all important outfit choice; the Pimkie Color Forecast app is an incredibly high-tech resource that forecasts the color trends based on some of the greatest fashion cities in the world.
It uses cameras installed in Milan, Paris and Antwerp to pick up patterns in passerby’s attire and creates comprehensive graphs that update every few seconds, so you can stay up-to-date on what’s hot right now.
Stylebook
Stylebook is a much-loved and extremely versatile app that allows you to plan outfits in advance using visual style boards. It allows you to upload pictures of all the items in your wardrobe or suitcase and then uses a mix and match option to help you experiment with different look ideas.
The newest version has over 35 new features available, so it’s worth investing the small bit of money required to buy this app. Tip: If you decide to opt in while abroad and using public WiFi, be sure you have the right tools to protect your credit card details from the types of hackers that pop up regularly on these networks.
Lustr Fashion Findr
It’s not just outfit choices that define the stylish traveler. It’s also her ability to be on the constant lookout for sales and unique pieces. This is where the Lustr Fashion Findr app comes into play. Currently only based in New York, but looking to branch out to the rest of the world, Lustr locates sales by distance, neighborhood and time until it ends. It’s the perfect helper if you want to find clothes by a specific designer or just if you want to find a bargain.
When they said there was an app for everything, they weren’t lying. Now, with the help of our mobile phones, we can quickly and easily overcome those travel fashion disasters that have plagued us for so long. These five apps are just a few examples of how technology can be the perfect companion for the stylish traveler, but there are many more out there.
