Three Types of Dresses You Need to Have

While over the years, the list of things every fashionable woman needs to have has evolved, there is one item that has never wavered: the little black dress. It’s such common knowledge for everyone that it finds itself in almost every fashion publication’s list of wardrobe essentials. A solid collection of dress is just as important as a good pair of denim jeans and a breathable white tee. But often, the LBD is oversimplified, and just owning an LBD isn’t enough. Every girl also needs to have different dresses for every occasion. Here are three types of dresses you need to invest in:

summer dresses

A Summer Dress
Danica Lo of Glamour is right to say that the flirty summer dress is a great investment – not just for warm summer days, but also for cool winter nights. A summer dress can easily be dressed down with flats, or dressed up with heels, and layered effortlessly with the right coats and cardigans. Coming in many colorful shapes and textures, it’s also easy to find one that works for you.

shift dress

A Shift Dress
Lyst calls the shift dress “a fashion classic,” and attributes is popularity to its versatility. “The relaxed fit creates a sleek and flattering silhouette that can then be dressed up or down,” they write. “For day to day use, a statement print will immediately add interest to the simple shape, or keep it sleek and understated for a more elegant approach.” Shift dresses come in many different patterns and textures as well, and can fit just about any style depending on what you wear with them!

maxi dress

A Maxi Dress
Many people mistakenly think that maxi dresses can only be pulled off by taller women, but as the community of All Womens Talk explains, “Maxi dresses work on an individual level, so definitely don’t count yourself out if you lean toward the shorter side.” Just like a summer dress, a maxi can be dressed down with gladiator sandals, or dressed up with boots and the right jacket. Of course, it also stands out perfectly well on its own thanks to its dramatic silhouette.

If you’re not one to experiment with patterns and colors, these dress styles also work perfectly fine in black, and that this is actually a very viable way to make sure that you have dresses for every occasion.
