That Dress and the Final Night of RVA Fashion Week

“Good things happen when you meet strangers.”

As if a perfectly fitting dress wasn’t enough, I also had some great company on the final night of RVA Fashion Week. Below, I’m hanging with Rachel from Touting My Wears, Bill Levitt who is involved in so many things I can’t name them, and Sue, the founder of Trunk Up Boutique. Both Rachel and I are wearing a dress from Trunk Up. Don’t worry, I’ll give you more deets on this gem, soon!

Here on the runway, I’m chatting with Sue and Isaiah from Shine, Inc. Photography, being upstaged by this pink ball of happiness.  I enjoyed getting to know Sue (and all the mutual people we apparently know) and growing to admire her side hustle opening an online boutique. I can’t wait to stay in touch with her and watch Trunk Up grow. Isaiah, well, besides probably falling in love with his girlfriend, I think I’ll continue to fall in love with his craft. You should follow his blog.

Below are two fine ladies of River City Fashion Uprising, VCU’s stellar fashion blog. Catie Kelly, on the right, has become the most adorable little light in my life. I look forward to sharing dreams together and helping her grow as she finishes her time at VCU and looks beyond.

Let’s take a break and talk about my two favorite fashion show looks. The first is from Alice McQueen, an upscale consignment store on the west end of Richmond. I have not been there yet and thusly was tickled to see them on the lineup. High quality style at low prices? Yes. That’s what the hokey pokey is all about.FS2 RCFU Alice McQueen

Then, we have this fitted spring dress from Kamala Baghat. More than any of the other custom designer pieces on the stage, I felt like this was the one that was real, wearable, and finished. There were a lot of unfinished pieces on stage from other designers that night, but Kamala’s pieces worked together under a cohesive theme and made me want more.

I ended the night hanging out with one of the original fashion bloggers of RVA, Brian McDaniels. I remember finding Dirty Richmond years ago and falling in love. I didn’t know I’d be taking on the fashion blogging world then. We had a nice time chatting about our messy professional lives and not knowing what the fuck we want to do when we grow except be awesome and happy.
