Pink Coat + Grey Dress: A Chic Winter Outfit Under $100

It’s finally getting real. Winter is here. The temperatures are dropping below 40 and snow is starting to pop in the forecast. All of us fashionistas fear the drabby colors and puffy layers of the winter. It’s a challenge to stay chic, yet warm. I’m so glad I discovered a pink coat that keeps me smiling on the grayest of days and a new sweater dress that has a splash of sex appeal.

I wore this look to wrap presents at Quirk Hotel on Tuesday. It was the perfect look for a night of networking, creative talks, and chilly wind.

The Gray Sweater Dress

The dress is from a brand you can find at Target, Bloomingdales and more. From the front, it’s very simple and conservative except for the updated hemline. The back, though, features three ties and three peak-a-boo holes. I nixed the bra and went head first to maximize the impact of the back.

Underneath my warm pink coat, it didn’t matter that my back was exposed. When you’re ready for the party, throw off your coat and strike a pose.  Let the party begin. If you aren’t ready to go bra-free, then perhaps you could wear a lacy bralette or layer a solid color camisole underneath. How about a pop of burgundy?

FYI: the dress is form fitting! I am wearing a medium, when I usually wear a small in dresses.

The Pink Coat

The pink coat has been on repeat in my closet. This find from Shein is warm and has a bit of an edgy form. The oversized fit worked really well over tighter items. Stay away from bulky scarves and chunky sweaters with this coat. You’ll look like you’re drowning in cloth.

I also make sure I’m wearing heels with this jacket. Even a short chunky heel will do. The hemline hits a little low. For a short girl (5″2′) like me, it can make you seem even smaller. I’ve also been pairing this coat with skinny jeans, booties, and tight turtlenecks.

What’s even better about this outfit? The whole thing is under $100! My shoes are $12, the dress is $28, the pink coat is $28, and this adorable hat was only $14…
