There are days when I love patrolling the internet for Spring fashion trends and learning what’s “in” and what’s “out.” Then there are days when I like just showing up somewhere and letting the clothes or home decor speak to me without any boundaries. If a color, a pattern, a cut, or a design make my insides stir, then I’m willing to invest in that feeling.
That was the case when I visited Jules Reid during her recent trunk show in Richmond. This local designer truly dances to the beat of her own drum. This dress is case and point.
The Blue Lantern pattern is captivating. I have never had a pattern in my closet that made me so happy. The cut of The Grace dress is definitely the most creative I own. It was more flattering than I thought it might be. While my man suggested it projected a “sexy clown” vibe, I felt empowered as I hopped around from one creative meeting to the next last Friday.
JR has several cuts that she replicates in a collection of patterns. If there is a pattern or color you decide you like, you can shop a whole collection of items in a variety of cuts–from bell sleeve dresses to flared pants to tunics. I also picked up this shirt in the Dr. Seuss World pattern. I’m still kind of drooling over the 50’s Rose Pattern. I had fun mixing the Blue Lantern Pattern with the patterns of Richmond…

Now on to the Featured 5 from last week:
It is always nice to see how other women organize their jewelry, makeup or wardrobe so this post was filled with some great future ideas for myself as I consider how to organize my hats and scarves better.
Speaking of organization, I was intrigued by Jill’s closet makeover and of her laundry room, see what she did to spruce this little nook up with spring cleaning on the mind. Post here.
Mary dresses up a family heirloom that I just love, but you have to see which it is and where it came from here.
Jennie’s look is simple but casually chic and I personally loved her outfit here.
Debbie posted a very inspirational post on a reminder on why we should be sharing and blogging. Read her message here. (This is especially for those that get burned out or forget their purpose for blogging from the start).
