A Weekend at Live! Casino & Hotel
Talk about an epic journey. From the moment my friend and I entered the doorway of Live! Casino & Hotel to the time we left, an adventure unfolded. It was restorative, inspiring, delicious, freeing, wild, and hilarious. Inside this sprawling building on Arundel Mills Circle is a world within a world. It’s so big, we got lost a few times. As the hours dripped by, the drinks flowed, and music grooved, we truly had a decadent and worthwhile time. Here are some of the highlights…
The Spa
The first thing we did after dropping our bags off at our room was enter the Live! Spa. I’ve been a few spas around the country and this one had it all. We first slipped on robes and hung out in the lounge with some tea to get relaxed and ready to unwind. We had just come in from the hustle and bustle of DC, so it was a nice way to reset and prepare for a night at Live! We both enjoyed a private massage, but left wishing we had more time to enjoy manicures, pedicures and facials. Next time!
The Food
The first meal we had upon our arrival was dinner at Prime Rib. We were not prepared for the caliber of food and the level of attention we enjoyed at Prime Rib. I would definitely visit the hotel just to eat here again. From the oysters Chesapeake topped with lump crab meat, to the seared tuna, to the steak filet topped with crab meat (all the crab meat!), we were totally satisfied. Not only that, but the dirty martinis were exactly the way we liked them. We even tasted some of the manager’s favorite bourbon. It was the perfect place to start the evening.
The Stage
You wouldn’t believe from the outside, but inside the casino and hotel are not one, but two big stages to enjoy comedy, music, and more. On a smaller scale, even the Lobby Bar at David’s has live acoustic music on the regular and Luk Fu had a DJ we loved. If you’ve been following me for a while, then you know how important music and laughter is to me. I have my eye on a few shows coming through the casino this fall including Tracey Morgan. There is no reason you need to gamble when you come here. There is plenty to enjoy and indulge in. But if you do like gambling, like any friend, you won’t get bored.
The Gambling
The winding layout of Live! makes you feel as if you’re entering a new world every 100 steps or so. Poker tables, glowing slot machines, roulette, black jack–you name it, whatever your gambling vice is, you’ll discover it here. I let my friend take the wheel and take her chances at the roulette tables. I played cheerleader and learned a bit about how the game is played. The energy and action of the table was infectious. We both really liked the Orchid Gaming and Outdoor Patio. It was a nice respite from being indoors all night.
