My Go-To Denim: High Waisted Flares (Or high waisted anything for that matter)
Can we have a moment for the female figure?
The high waisted style began long before the 70s. Think about where the waist lines on dresses hit women during the American Revolution. How about the 50’s sock hop skirts? The 70’s high waisted flares and jump suits also make the feminine figure pop. Thoughtful clothing has always praised the curves of a woman’s body. As they should.
I’m glad the high waisted trend has come back around. I would venture to say that about 80% of all bottoms I won now are high waisted. My favorites? High waisted flares. What I love about the denim style the most is the emphasis on the female shape. High waisted flares effortlessly elongate any set of stems. I cannot tell you how many times my followers assume I am tall. If you throw on a pair of heels under your flares, ay 5’2″ gal can look like a 5’8″ model. If your denim hits you at the right place, it can also whittle your waist at the same the they accentuate the hips.
I’m rocking my latest find from Jag Jeans. The wide leg flares feature a row of buttons on the hips that I love. Something about it makes the design clean and crisp. If I had a sailor hat, I’d throw it on, too. The jeans have the softest touch and stretch (Read: they are mega comfy). I am actually thinking of getting the white pair for my summer wardrobe.
I pared the jeans with this super soft tunic, also from Jag Jeans. I tied it up to accentuate my waist. I look forward to wearing this tunic over distressed jean shorts with sandals this summer (Summer is coming, right?). To make this look sinter friendly, I pulled out my latest thrift find, a White House Black Market faux fur white coat. I found it for $16. Can I get an amen?
