A Review of Our Month at City Barre
If you’ve been following me for a while now, then you know one of my favorite workouts is Barre. I wrote about the many reasons I love this fitness genreĀ in this post. There hasn’t been an option for a barre class closer to downtown for me to commit to it regularly, however. Thanks to the rising tides of the young and fun in the Scotts Addition neighborhood, City Barre decided to make itself a home there. The newly developed barre studio is lady like, challenging, and community-based.
Gretchen and her team get to know each and every person by their first names. They push you hard to get the most of your workouts. They help you adjust your moves to maximize the impact of each tiny, one-inch movement. You leave feeling energized and impressed with yourself after each and every visit. I’ve loved meeting some of the other women before and after each class. The space fills up with a sweet, focused community vibe that is truly infectious. I can’t wait to watch this fitness movement grow.
I’m writing this post from Thailand. As you might imagine, it’s hot as hell here. It averages between 80 and 90 degrees every day. I’m walking more than 25,000 steps a day and I’m not wearing much clothing, either. Getting myself in shape before this trip was a big help for more than one reason. I’m really glad I committed to heading to a class about three days a week for a month.
