At-Home Workouts I Love
I’m not really new to this stay-at-home-all-day thing. I’ve been freelancing for half a decade. I haven’t had an office to call my own outside of my own apartment for years. My morning commute is often to my kitchen or to a local coffee shop, unless I have meetings or other big projects. Blogging alone keeps me tethered to my home and laptop. I love getting out of the house for work outs, but at-home workouts are a norm for me.
As I wrote in this article, though, I get off track with my fitness routine. It’s always a big bummer when you know you can do better. Taking a break for workouts also helps the mind stay sharp, so I suffer there when I don’t stay committed. Fortunately, I write about fitness, so that keeps me accountable! That also keeps me informed on all the good resources out there. Now, as a global community, we’re all tapping into these resources as we take advantage of the at-home workout more than ever.
I have been following some of my favorite folks and put together my ultimate list of at-home workout plans and resources. It’s a blend of free, subscription and inspirational options.
First, Get Some Tools
You don’t have to spend much to do a lot at home. Below are a few tools you can have on hand for hundreds of different moves and workouts.
Cardio
Jazzercise – Ya’ll know I’m a fan of Jazzercise. The On-Demand option is really awesome. You can select from 10-minute ab workouts to 40-minute cardio workouts. I like to mix and match. Cost: 14-day free trial, $20/month after.
Title Boxing – This was the saddest lost from my workout routine recently, but Title is online now, thankfully. Cost: 30-day free trial, $14+/month after.
OnBeat Fitness – Thank you Instagram for helping me find this one! The adorable instructor shares short fun, twerking and strength training combos on social and you can get into more in-depth workouts after that. Cost: Free on Insta, $14.99/month for full subscription.
Maiden Motion – Straight from Richmond, they are sharing their dance classes with lots of positivity. The in-person classes are HARD and worth the burn! Cost: Website says, “As long as we can sustain it, classes will be FREE.”
Pilates
Niche Fitness Studio’s Sculpt & Core Classes – I’ve been a fan of this Richmond-based pilates studio for a long time. They’ve adapted quickly and now host several live classes AND on-demand classes on a new site: sculptandcore.com. Cost: $30/month for unlimited classes. Use code SweetSauce5 for $5 off the first month!
Blogilates – These fun and sometimes funny workouts are focused on toning muscles. Casey is an online fitness OG. She has dozens of workouts on Instagram and videos on her website you can sort by category. Cost: Free as far as I can see. She may have plans for purchase.
Fierce and Fit: Michelle is a bad ass I met at a wedding last year. Her on-demand workouts cover Tabata, yoga, barre, and more. so this belongs in a few categories. She has a Facebook group and app for a more holistic approach, too. Cost: Try three days free, $40/month unlimited after. You can also try her full package, with meal planning, coaching and more for 7 ays for free.
Strength
My Pinterest Board – I’ve been adding simple ab, arm, and full-body workouts to this Pinterest board for years. If I have 20 minutes, I pull up Pinterest on my phone or laptop and knock a few out. Start your own Pinterest board to reference it when all else bores you!
Lauren Elyce Fit – A blogger I love posts at-home workouts all day everyday! She’s motivating, creative, and adorable. Cost: Free on Instagram and she often posts free workout plans you can download. You can purchase personalized coaching and fit guides.
Girly Exercises – There are new workout ideas every day from women al over the world. I save the posts to my “Saved” Instagram category called “Fitness” so I can pull them up when I need inspiration for a self-guided workout. Cost: Free.
Jazzercise – I’m repeating Jazzercise On-Demand here because they have a whole section of strength workouts ranging 10-minute arm workouts to 30-minute full-body workouts. You just need some basic weights. Cost: 14-day free trial, $20/month after.
Barre
Marni Alton – I discovered Marne through Drew Barryore. The workouts are a combo of cardio, barre and yoga, which I love. Cost: $28 single class, $99/month unlimited.
City Barre – This barre studio is tough and chic. Based in Richmond, the studio is sharing classes for members in a library and are hosting live classes using Zoom. Cost: They’re running a QuaranTEN class package for $140.
Maiden Motion – I mentioned Maiden Motion above, but they belong in this category, too! Cost: They’re streaming for free for now.
Yoga
3SYoga – I’ve been hitting up the newly opened 3SYoga studio this spring. These are high energy, fun yoga and interval classes. They launched a YouTube channel, which you can access by email (s3yogarva@gmail.com) for a suggested donation. They are also hosting daily 4 p.m. live yoga classes on Facebook. Cost: Donation-based.
Hot Yoga Barre -They have done a great job! These yoga, barre and HIIT classes from a Richmond-based studio are awesome. They are now offering pre-recorded content, ranging from 5 to 60 minutes. Cost: Free current clients, $79 for unlimited access. You can preview without membership and decide.
Fierce and Fit: Michelle’s on-demand workouts cover Tabata, yoga, barre, and more, so that’s why she’s listed here again! Cost: Try three days free, $40/month unlimited after. You can also try her full package, with meal planning, coaching and more for 7 ays for free.
Common Ground Healing Arts – is based in Charlottesville, VA and offers more restorative yoga classes that feature meditation and deep relaxation. Cost: Pay-What-You-Can $5-20, unless otherwise noted.
Tip: Change your Outfit for your At-Home Workout
